In 2005, Denise brought her design flare to East Mesa by opening a design firm and boutique, Coco Milanos, named after her beloved dog, Coco. Today, many of the exquisite gift items, once shopped for on the store, are now available for purchase on our website. If the red dot stickers visible across the majority of the pieces on display were anything to go by, the exhibition was a commercial hit, too.

Ashley Manhan obtained her degree from UCLA while simultaneously employed at a well-respected firm in Santa Monica where she was immersed in high-end hotel and resort design. The firm’s high profile clientele included Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants amongst others. She would later join, and quickly move up the ranks, of hospitality pioneer sbe Entertainment. Ashley was also immersed in the design of numerous notable restaurants including the Bazaar with celebrity chef José Andrés, a Michael Mina restaurant in Hollywood and Katsuya LA Live in Los Angeles. Avenue has continued to work on new build projects with both aforementioned chefs as well as many of the aforementioned hospitality groups.

Developing a collection inspired by European design and Middle Eastern arts in Los Angeles to be shown at Milan Design Week may seem like overload, but for designer Natasha Baradaran, it’s just another day at the office—or, workroom. The Los Angeles–based creative grew up spending summers in Milan and has always loved travel, so it seemed natural that when she stepped into product design four years ago, her influences would be multicultural. And while it’s common for American designers to visit and show in Milan during Design Week, Baradaran’s familiarity with the city makes it extra special for her. This year, she’ll debut her third furniture line, Andro, in a shoppable pop-up presentation at Milan’s hip lifestyle boutique Tearose. To see what goes into such a presentation, AD PRO follows Baradaran for a day back in L.A. Issey Miyake’s 2024 design project, to be unveiled at the brand’s Milan store, is called “Fold and Crease,” a self-explanatory name suggesting that the Dutch collective We Make Carpets selected for the initiative meant to highlight the DNA and core design and manufacturing ethos of the Japanese brand.

JCID was established during the course of my career, and has evolved to become my primary focus since July 2016. Milan-based Japanese designer Keiji Takeuchi presents walking sticks & canes, an exhibition of 18 international designers in the Quadreria space at Triennale Milano during Milan Design Week 2024. As the title suggests it, the curator takes on the world of walking aids to unpack their history and relatively broad definition, which underwent unique evolutions in different eras. To do so, Takeuchi invites eighteen designers from around the globe to showcase a a variety of examples that question what walking sticks and canes represent in our lives. These walking aids are ‘a universal yet understated subject with limitless exploration potential. By conducting this research exhibition, we showcase 18 examples by designers I admire, aiming to share their thoughts on this subject and broaden our general awareness of this essential tool,’ he says.

Working with bathroom brand Kohler, the cutting-edge London artist and designer constructed a maze-like brutalist installation at Palazzo del Senato featuring a giant orange lavatory and twisting industrial pipes to mark the launch of his first product, Formation 02. Textile specialist Vitale Barberis Canonico has linked with Driade on outfitting some of its furniture icons with its woolen fabrics. The Rodolfo Dordoni-designed sofa Hall covered in a tartan carded flannel and the Verlane sofa and Lisa and Ipercubo armchairs upholstered in a coat-aimed double woolen fabric will be displayed at the fabric maker’s showroom in Milan’s Brera district. Martin’s showcase of her brand La DoubleJ’s new homewares collection, dubbed “Solar.” For the first time the presentation will be held not at the label’s flagship but at the Palazzo Belgioioso venue, whose elements were referenced in the range.
